Happy holidays friends and family!!
We hope you are all having wonderful times together. We had
a lovely day celebrating Christmas here in Malawi :] Fun fact: About 80% of Malawians celebrate Christmas.
The day began as most Christmas days begin.. blasting the Christmas music!! It was the
first day that most of us slept in past 8am. We were up for relaxing. The humid and warm weather plus
the lack of electricity made it strange to know it was Christmas, but the music
lit our spirits.
We had a relaxing morning and afternoon listening to music,
playing games, and watching the movie Lone
Ranger.
Our next holiday adventure: American football!
The hotel manager alerted us that he was putting diesel fuel
into the generator, so we could cook our holiday dinner – yum, yum, yum! We had
some fun in the kitchen :] We learned
that Cate is a fruit ninja in disguise.
After 20 minutes or so of cooking, the electricity flickered
out. The manager was so determined to give us electricity to cook, that he converted
his internet minutes into electricity for us! We don’t know how that worked,
but were very appreciative of the kind act.
The day was full of laughter and good company! We are all very joyful here in Malawi! It was a holiday to remember :]
